T-Mobile announces new myTouch smartphone

T-Mobile has a spanking new myTouch smartphone for the masses, where it will play nice with T-Mobile’s equally new and super-fast HSPA+ mobile broadband network. It was constructed to cater for families, where one is able to hold spontaneous face-to-face conversations thanks to the wonders of Video Chat and the ability to reach 4G speeds on T-Mobile’s new network. It is also interesting to note that T-Mobile’s 4G network is available in more cities across the country than any other network. Video Chat on the new myTouch will work not only on a Wi-Fi connection unlike the iPhone 4, and the myTouch’s front-facing camera can work via Yahoo! Messenger or QIK. Heck, you can even leave Video Mail using QIK whenever someone is not around to pick up your call.

Not only that, the new myTouch also makes for a decent camcorder, since it can record in high-definition (HD) to help it stay on par with other handheld camcorders such as the Flip HD from Cisco. With Screen Share, customers are now able to share or broadcast HD video and pictures which they’ve captured. Using but a few touches of the screen, customers are able to share their photo albums, videos and movies wirelessly as long as there is a compatible HDTV or other DLNA device around. The new handset will also boast a trio of exclusive myTouch features, including Genius Button, powered by Dragon Dictation from Nuance that allows customers call, text, e-mail or access the internet with a simple voice command; Faves Gallery, which offers shortcuts to one’s most-contacted family and friends; and myModes, which creates customized home screens for work and home.

Other hardware specifications include a brilliant 3.8-inch WVGA touch-screen display with virtual keyboard and Swype for easy text input, a zippy second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz MSM8255 processor, a 5-megapixel camera, a preinstalled 8GB microSD memory card, and an integrated media player. Good thing it runs on the latest Android 2.2 operating system which will also open up the gateway to over 80,000 applications on Android Market to keep you occupied at all times.
