About the Worlds cheapest tablet


Akash India’s cheapest tablet has finally been unveiled year later after telecom minister Kapil Sibal showed a prototype Akash tablets launch is finally near. Akash is currently the worlds cheapest tablet and can is also known as the “$35 Tablet”. Datawind- Canadian based firm in co- ordination with IIT Rajasthan are the manufactures for the Akash tablet. Speculations has been made that Datawind might be launching the device in mass consumer markets such as UK and the US.

Akash ubislate 7 the newly released tablet pc comes with new advanced features, the most affordable tablet current which was released in India. This tablet meets the needs of all Indian students .The 7inch touch screen with 480x800 pixel display ,Android 2.2 based operating system powered by a Connexant Processor is definitely something to get excited about.

It also works on Wi-Fi and any GPRS connections, its also integrated with various social networks such as facebook and twitter. The Akash tablet is ideal for business purposes because it consists of power working tools such as Microsoft office and Adobe PDF. The tablet has an impressive memory of 256mb of RAM including a 2GB flash which consist of the memory capacity expandable up to 32GB micro external SD card. There are 2 USB ports available for connection to other pen drive devices. 

It supports multimedia music and videos plus has an impressive battery backup which can last about 3 hours, but in general the battery wont last very long if not charged fully. The 2100Ah battery last for about 4 hours in battery duration in normal usage and about 2 hours for high definition usage.


It is believe that this devices can make significant change in India in connecting rural India with the advanced efficiency technology boom in the rest of the country.100,000 Akash units will be distributed by the government as a test trial which will give an estimated amount of 3000 pcs per Indian state. Rs 2250 is the price which has been agreed on by the Goverment for students to purchase this device . 

The general price is Rs 2999 with added additional features such as an embedded SIM making it possible to use it as a cellular device and it will be most likely launched in November. For about 3-6months the distributions of 1 Crore will take place after the field trail, by that time everyone student can expect to have a tablet. In early December the commercial version of Ubislate will buy available on the market. The tablet will be distributed to students at the institutions that they are currently situated at , mentioned by the government.
