Apple's iPad Price

With rumors strongly suggesting Apple’s iPad 2 is on its way to launch in this summer, the price of first iPad version is likely to come down, according to sources.

Though it is not officially confirmed by Apple, it is being expected that owing to intense competition from its rivals like Samsung and Motorola’s Xoom, Apple would certainly reduce the price of its iPad. The prices are expected to come down as low as $199.

Besides, it is also to be noted that Apple’s iPad 2 is rumored to be launched somewhere around March or April. This could also be one of the reasons for price reduction.

According to unofficial reports, some of the well-known online selling firms including BestBuy and Amazon are set to drop the iPad prices. Whether it is rumor or fact, it is quite logical to guess that the company would try to push the sales of its earlier versions along with its new versions.

“iPad 2 is expected to be released in the Spring so retailers like Best Buy and Amazon should be busy clearing space, both physical and virtual to sell the device. I would expect iPads to drop down to $299 or maybe even $199 for a refurbished model. This probably won’t happen until Apple starts taking pre-sale orders of the iPad 2,” a source quoted.
